When TVP launched one Donatan and you can Cleo carry out play “My personal Slowianie” during the Eurovision, these were brief to indicate that the track isn’t bull crap. Its pr release included feedback regarding a reported Gloss social critic whom revealed it “a rather smart parody”. We now have today investigate words so you’re able to “Slavic Girls”, the newest English-vocabulary kind of the fresh song, therefore we need agree. Donatan and you may Cleo try grasp satirists, as well as their track is an imaginative rebuke so you’re able to xenophobes who require to keep Poland inside the a package.
The opening world of your own video shows Donatan-sluggish and you can obviously oversexed-not able to get free from sleep. Their antiquated smartphone and you will outlying farmhouse smack off men-in fact, a nation-trailing the occasions. The idea you to definitely Warsaw try trapped at nighttime many years goes on on video’s portrayal of women, whom write butter while dudes price the abilities. Dairy running-down their cheeks as well as over their thrusting cleavage isn’t simply indeed there so you’re able to titilate. It performs for the heading role of women from inside the conventional people: to get angels throughout the cooking area and wantons in the room.
In the united kingdom, in which I’m writing this short article out-of, Poles (and Romanians and you may Bulgarians and any other immigrant regarding East Europe) are too commonly portrayed once the scroungers whom arrived at go on professionals. It’s a tired land produced off anxiety and you can xenophobia, and you can outrage more Britain’s individual economic flaws. Actually, lately Posts have been fleeing Britain and returning house selecting finest potential. Poland 2014 is not the Poland of a decade back. A lot of the world already does know this: Businessweek has just explained Poland since the “Europe’s really active cost savings” and you may Poland is just one of the state’s leading the economical recuperation in the Eastern Europe.
That puts a unique angle to your Donatan and you will Cleo’s smart video. It is slick, colorful and well-choreographed. As well as the tune, produced to perfection, becomes caught in your thoughts, it doesn’t matter if you may be to your stylish-increase or not.
Given all of that, the best message was an enthusiastic implicit you to definitely. You simply cannot telephone call a nation backwards whether it provides things once the good that.
